Workshop Update

November 3rd, 2010

UK Workshops November 2010

To help those unable to attend the whole weekend, I have broken the course into separate modules which can be taken individually or the workshop can be taken as a whole

Workshop 1
Saturday 20th November
10am  – 1pm
Recognizing and balancing our Divine Masculine and Feminine energies
Here we spend time with the others in the group, learning to distinguish the difference between our Divine masculine and Feminine energies, recognizing where they are out of balance and learning how not to let one dominate to the detriment of the other
2 – 5pm
Sacred Pipe North American Spread
Here we go deeper into our Divine Masculine and Feminine, using the image of the Native American Sacred Pipe – the bowl of the pipe represents the feminine and the stem the masculine. The way in which they come together to make the pipe represents our Divine connection to the Creator
Sunday 21st November
10am – 1pm
Reclaiming our Power
Here we look at where we are giving our power away and how we can bring it back. We work with some of the principles of  the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu
2 – 5pm
Standing in our Authentic Power

We look at where we are standing in our Power and become aware of when we slide out. The colours we are drawn to using give us a tool to bring us back into our Divine power. This is a wonderful ending after a time of intense personal work.

Workshop 2
Saturday 27th November
10am – 1pm

Meeting your Divine Radiant Self
We come to a place where we see ourselves as we really are -as Divine Light Beings - able to see ourselves without judgment
2 – 5pm
Creating our Crystaline Pyramid
We create our personal crystaline structure enabling us to move through time healing the memories of our perceptions. Again we look into whether our personal Masculine and Feminine is in alignment with the Divine

Sunday 28th November
10am – 5pm
Finding our Teacher
Using a guided visualization we take a journey to meet our teacher
2 – 5pm – Standing in our Authentic Power (we again end in the same empowering way as during the previous weekend)

Upcoming Workshops

September 30th, 2010

November 2010 Workshops, Caro Sweet Studio, Bransford, UK

Shelley lives and works in Hermanus, near Cape Town. An internationally acclaimed artist, she has completed the Colour Mirrors courses with Melissie Jolly including the Colour 3 Teachers.

Shelley combines her talents as an artist and teacher with her working experience with Colour Mirrors, facilitating workshops on Connecting to your Inner Wisdom through Colour in both South Africa and the UK. The workshops guide you through new ways of seeing by using drawing and colour exercises to connect you to your personal power. Finding out more of how colour connects us to the Divine reminds us that we are light beings, enabling us to stand in our Authentic Divine Power. Understanding our energy and taking responsibility for it, empowers us to move through life with awareness, empowering others and healing the planet.

20 – 21  November

Connect through colour to your Inner Wisdom

In this 2-day workshop, we use colour to investigate the balance between our masculine and feminine aspects of our energy, learn how to recognise where we are giving our power away and how we are able to reclaim it. Finally, we look at our power when we are be-ing our authentic selves. We come to recognise, though colour, when we have moved away from this space and learn to make the shift with awareness. All insights culminate in a quiet time of working intuitively with colour

For those who would like to take this further, the following 3 mornings will be set aside for private consultations on insights which have come up during the 2-day workshop

27 – 28 November

Colour. Healing. Prayer

In this 2-day workshop we move from a place of prayer into working deeply with our personal connection with colour to healing, both for others and ourselves. By invoking the assistance of the Angelic realm, we go deep within ourselves through meditation and awareness. Each aspect of this work is followed by a quiet time of working intuitively with colour

Connecting through Colour

August 7th, 2009

Connecting  through colour has become an integral part of my painting and healing journey. Colour works on a cellular level in the body and is vitally important to our well being. As a Colour Practitioner, I work with the Colour Mirrors colour system .

colour_mirrors_220px_web1

This wonderful system of healing allows you to choose the colour that acts as your mirror.

“Your personal colour choice will reflect back to you specific patterns of behaviour that you might not be aware of that could be sub-consciously creating lack of money, love, health and happiness in your life.  At the same time each colour will shine back to you the potential you hold, reminding you of your talents, gifts and personal power.”

Contact me for more information on Colour Mirrors or to schedule an appointment.  Join the mailing list to be kept up to date with  upcoming workshops and events. Enjoy the journey of connecting with colour.

Problem Solving for Artists

August 6th, 2009

Problem solving for artists can be quite a complicated affair but here are some tips on what to look for when your painting just won’t work!

I feel that there are no longer RULES in art but that these are tips, to be used if they work for you under particular circumstances.

Tonal values are very important here in this painting

Tonal values are very important here in this painting

Tonal Values

  • How have these been used? Remember, every colour has a matching tonal value. Its all too easy to get carried away with colour and forget that your artwork has to work tonally in order to be successful. Looking at your artwork through a piece of red coloured glass will be helpful here. The red glass cuts out the colour and lets you see whether your work is, in fact, working tonally.
  • What effect does this use of tonal value have?
  • What can be done to rectify this?

Colour Balance

  • Where is this successful?
  • What can be done to rectify this?

Use of paint – tactile quality

  • Do you feel you want to touch it?
  • If not, why not/ Art is a particularly tactile medium, which fascinates the viewer when different brushstrokes, paint marks etc are used
Tactile quality is obvious here

The texture in this painting enhances it's tactile quality

Are you developing a personal signature in your work?

  • If so – is it in the brushstroke / colour use / use of media / theme etc.
  • Does your work show development in one of more of the above?

Format edges

  • How have the edges of the format been resolved? Remember, you usually need to balance opposite edges with one another. The work will look unbalanced if you have many more colour changes on one edge than on its opposite edge

Is there a” quite area”?

  • Artworks can bet overpowering and confusing with too much information. The eye needs a place to settle in order to take in the whole of the artwork

Focal point

  • Is there a focal point? Generally a focal point works better above the middle of the artwork – though not always.

What is the main emphasis of the work?

  • Is it brushstroke / colour / shape / symbolism etc?

Obviously, there are many more reasons for an artwork not to work, but hopefully this will give you something to go on. Later we can look at other areas of problem solving for artists.

About Me

July 3rd, 2009

My passion for colour has been a constant throughout my life. It has become the medium through which I reflect my spiritual journey. Like the layers of an onion, the energy of colour reveals itself on ever-deeper levels, changing and influencing our lives far beyond our expectations and even awareness. We relate to colour on a level that mirrors our personal journeys, which involves the viewer as an integral part of the creative process.

My journey with colour has been a ever present experience. To have been able to complete the circle and take it further, working with others to empower them, has been a Divine gift.

WHY I USE THE COLOUR MIRRORS BOTTLES

Colour, like the body itself, works on a vibrational energy system, and in this manner, affects the body on a cellular level.

The colours chosen by the kids before the art class, relate on a vibrational level to whatever is is that each child is experiencing or dealing with in the moment. In the children’s case, where direct communication is often not possible or where they battle to make themselves understood, the colours do the communicating for them. In this way, the colours can help the staff get an even deeper understanding. The children choose colours that either work to heighten their successes or heal the areas where they are experiencing difficulties.

After spending some time with the colour mirror bottles, the children move onto other work with longer attention spans and a quietness that was not necessarily there before. This enables them to see the project through, however challenging. children that were not previously participating at all in art tasks are now doing so
